Project 4: Robot yourself

For the robot yourself project I initially intended for it to look like myself, but by the end I think it looks like a mix of Mr. T and Snooki.

I used cut up coke cans for the body, legs and arms. For the face I had a lozenge tin which opened and help hide extra material within the head. I added glasses with wire since I wear glasses; I also used ribbon to make a bun on top of the head because I usually have my hair up in a bun. I always wear earrings and some form of necklace so I added those as well; the eyes are made of thumbtacks, the nose is a nail, and my mouth is wire.

Project 3: Balsa wood

For my project I used the word BOLD.

The words I used to describe bold were:

Large

Red

"In your face"

Intense

Daring

I wanted to use as much of the block as possible so my design would be large and interesting. When it came to color I knew I wanted to use red and black, but I also picked other bright colors to draw attention.

Project 2: Halloween COstume

For my Halloween costume I decided to do a "Barbie" version of Leeloo from the movie Fifth Element. My boyfriend and I were wanting to go as Barbie and G.I. Joe, but I didn't want to be plain Barbie which is where I came up with the Fifth Element Barbie idea. In the movie, Leeloo has orange hair with orange suspenders and black boots; I decided to use pink for my costume to give the Barbie feel. I also decided to make Leeloo's gold pants into a gold skirt instead because I don't ever remember putting pants on my Barbies, they always seemed to be wearing skirts. Sadly when I finished the costume I realized I had messed up the measurements and made  it too big for myself. I was so worried that I would make it too small that I kept adding inches and made it entirely too big. It ended out working perfect anyway because my boyfriend and I joked about him dressing up as Barbie and me as G.I Joe, so when the costume was too big for me we decided to go with our opposites idea. So below you will see my darling boyfriend modeling my handmade Fifth Element Barbie costume.

Details: The top was entirely hand sewn, the skirt was made on a sewing machine with elastic inside the waistband, and the suspenders were cut and sewn together on the machine as well.
